Up, up, and away! The Technocrane was hoisted to the top of a downtown San Francisco building for one shot for the movie "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Patrick Roth was lead technocrane tech for this one.
Two commercials, one for Pandora and the other for a French grocery store chain celebrating their 50th anniversary. The Pandora commercials can be seen on my videos page or at the Terri Timely link above. The Terri Timely team is very creative and super cool to work with.
This was the "Get your billion dollars back America" campaign.
There wasn't a lot of "techno" moves on this one, however the crane saved lots of time due to it's flexibility. Patrick Roth and Todd Snyder assisted me during the 5 days of shooting.
Director: Lee Toland Krieger DoP: David Lanzenberg The Age of Adaline is an upcoming feature that I happened to be lucky enough to be a part of. What a great crew. It was a second unit crew so we were fast and agile... even with the techno. The SL Pod from GEO films was all that was needed for the Red Dragon. Super small and
super light wight. In fact a bit to light, extra weight had to be added to the front of the techno just to achieve balance.
This shot was of some dancers shot from straight overhead and booming down straight
to just over their heads while the camera was rotating in 360 degree fashion. The shot was part of a commercial for the Ryder truck company. The technocrane was the only way to go for this job.The straight down shots are always tough. To keep the camera in a straight line all the way down while spinning was a challenge. The client was happy and so were we.
I have had the privilege to work as a jib operator for Alex on The Voice. Alex is also the Director/DoP for that show, so he asked if I would help shoot the "cold open" for this seasons
Shark Tank. I used the 24 foot Triangle and the footage looked great. Check it out this season.
